🤖 Microsoft Edge transforms into an AI browser LINK
  • Microsoft introduced an experimental feature for Edge called Copilot Mode, which adds an AI assistant that can help users search, chat, and navigate the web from a brand new tab page.
  • The AI can analyze content on a single webpage to answer questions or can view all open tabs with permission, making it a research companion for comparing products across multiple sites.
  • Copilot is designed to handle tasks on a user’s behalf, such as creating shopping lists and drafting content, and it will eventually manage more complex actions like booking appointments and flights.
⌚ Meta plans a smartwatch with built-in camera LINK
  • Meta is reportedly developing a new smartwatch that could be revealed at its Meta Connect 2025 event, partnering with Chinese manufacturers to produce the new wrist-based tech.
  • The rumored device may include a camera and focus on XR technologies rather than health, possibly complementing the company's upcoming smart glasses that will feature a display.
  • This wearable could incorporate Meta's existing research into wrist-based EMG technology, reviving a project that has previously faced rumors of cancellation and subsequent development.
🔓 Tea app leak worsens with second database exposing user chats LINK
  • A second security issue at the Tea app has exposed over 1.1 million private messages, revealing sensitive user conversations about abortions and cheating partners from early 2023 until last week.
  • This new data exposure was possible because any user could access a more recent database containing chat logs by using their own API key, an issue that existed until late last week.
  • The exposed chat logs contained real names, social media handles, and phone numbers, making it trivial to find the real-world identities of users who believed their conversations were kept private.
✅ ChatGPT can now pass the ‘I am not a robot’ test LINK
  • OpenAI's new ChatGPT Agent can now bypass Cloudflare's anti-bot security by checking the "Verify you are human" box, a step intended to block automated programs from accessing websites.
  • A Reddit user posted screenshots showing the AI agent navigating a website, where it passed the verification step before a CAPTCHA challenge would normally appear during a video conversion task.
  • The agent narrated its process in real-time, stating it needed to select the Cloudflare checkbox to prove it wasn't a bot before it could complete its assigned online action.
📱 India now makes 44% of US smartphones LINK
  • For the first time, India became the primary manufacturing hub for smartphones shipped into the United States, with its share surging from 13 percent last year to 44 percent in Q2 2025.
  • Meanwhile, the proportion of US smartphone shipments manufactured in China has fallen sharply from 61 percent in Q2 2024 to only 25 percent this quarter as a result of trade tensions.
  • Apple is a major driver of this change, having significantly scaled up its production capacity in India as part of its 'China Plus One' strategy to supply the US market.
👓 Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses sales have tripled LINK
  • EssilorLuxottica reported that revenue from its AI-powered Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses more than tripled year over year, helping boost the eyewear giant's total first-half sales to €14.02 billion.
  • Having sold 2 million pairs since late 2023, the French-Italian company now aims to produce 10 million units of the Meta glasses annually by the end of the year 2026.
  • Meta is expanding its lineup with an Oakley collaboration offering double the battery life and 3K video, while a Prada-branded version of the smart glasses is also planned for the future.
